Grandstream GWN7661E, Wi-Fi 6

Grandstream GWN7661E, Wi-Fi 6
The Grandstream GWN7661E Wi-Fi 6 access point is ideal for indoor installation in offices, hotels, or homes. This dual-band AP operates on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands and fully utilises the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard for higher throughput and data transfer efficiency. It integrates MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies, which optimise communication with multiple devices simultaneously and reduce latency in high-density client environments. The access point can serve up to 256 concurrent Wi-Fi clients and offers advanced security and centralised network management via the cloud, a mobile app, or a local controller. It is designed for in-wall mounting and is complemented by four Gigabit Ethernet ports for flexible wired connectivity.
Key features of the Grandstream GWN7661E WiFi Access Point
- Uses MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies for operation in dense networks
- Serves up to 256 concurrent Wi-Fi clients
- Features 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports with PSE functionality
- Powered by PoE/PoE+ 802.3af/at standards
- Network security includes the WPA3 standard and a secure boot function
- Managed via a built-in controller, the cloud, or a mobile app
- Configuration supports the creation of up to 32 separate SSIDs
Performance and Wi-Fi 6 technology
The access point operates with the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) standard across two frequency bands. On the 5GHz band, it achieves transfer speeds of up to 2400Mbps using 3×3:2 MU-MIMO, while on the 2.4GHz band it provides speeds of up to 573.5Mbps with 2×2:2 MU-MIMO. For efficient data flow management in high-density environments, it implements MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies. These features divide channels into smaller units, increasing overall network throughput and reducing latency for individual clients. This enables it to serve up to 256 concurrent users.
Advanced security
To protect the wireless network, this access point supports modern encryption standards, including WPA2-PSK, WPA2-Enterprise, and WPA3. The security architecture includes an anti-hacking secure boot feature, which verifies firmware integrity at start-up using digital signatures. Each device has a unique security certificate and a randomly generated default password to prevent unauthorised access. The Guest Zone function provides separate and secure access for visitors, isolating guest traffic from the internal network.
Flexible management and network segmentation
The Grandstream GWN7661E functions as an access point and can be managed via its built-in controller, the GWN.Cloud platform, or GWN Manager software. The integrated controller can manage up to 50 local GWN access points. The configuration supports up to 32 SSIDs, which lets you create separate networks with their own rules, such as a captive portal or bandwidth limits for individual user groups. The advanced QoS (Quality of Service) feature helps prioritise traffic for latency-sensitive applications like video conferencing or VoIP calls.
Connectivity
The access point is equipped with a total of four Gigabit Ethernet ports. One port serves as the uplink and supports Power over Ethernet (PoE/PoE+) with 802.3af/at standards. Two additional ports offer PSE (Power Sourcing Equipment) functionality, enabling you to power other connected devices with a total output of up to 12W, such as IP phones or cameras. The last port functions as a standard Gigabit LAN port for a wired connection to end devices, like a desktop computer or a printer.
