You dog!

You can never have enough literary filth. Some date back to the Middle Ages, others emerged during the Czech National Revival or the First Republic avant-garde, and more are being created right now. Some are cheerful, others sad; one author is wracked with melancholy, another with absurd comedy. We know some of the creators well, while we have never heard of others at all. But they all have one thing in common: filthy stories are to literature and culture what the soul is to the body. In every age, at any time. This book both entertains and teases, titillates and provokes. And it also aims to be a little educational, a study guide: once you start reading it, you should make sure you read it properly – as the classic author once said. So, at the end of each chapter, which mixes excerpts of original work with contemporary commentary, there are a few questions for the curious. All of this is then brought to life with dozens of illustrations by the first-rate Czech illustrator Jaromír Plachý.
