The Fall

You can't run from a stranger. It comes from within.

Another book by the master of Slovak horror. The Stranger, Evil incarnate, enters the lives of four people and there is no escape. They feed on the fears of their victims, and most of all they like to do to them what they fear most. Anne and Richard were engaged in Edinburgh. Eric just wanted to make a few quid as a maid. Doug sold an antique to a strange acquaintance. Four ordinary lives, four seemingly insignificant decisions. And then came the Stranger. A dark element with no face and no mercy. Evil incarnate, which does not choose randomly - it feeds on fear. It seeks out the deepest fears, hidden guilt and repressed thoughts... and turns them into reality. It plays with the human mind like a cat with a mouse. Slowly, cruelly. Victims soon lose faith in their own senses. The dream merges with reality. The line between truth and delusion is disappearing. Every step can be a trap, every mirror a lie. Death begins to seem like deliverance - but the Stranger always has a final, more terrifying ace in the hole.

There's only one rule in this story: whoever runs away from himself, the Stranger will catch him first.
