The Fall

You can't run from the Stranger. It comes from within.

Another book from the master of Slovak horror. The Stranger enters the lives of four people—the personification of Evil, from which there is no escape. It feeds on its victims' fear and, most of all, loves to do to them the very thing they fear the most. Anna and Richard just got engaged in Edinburgh. Erik just wanted to earn a few extra pounds as a hotel porter. Doug sold an antique to a peculiar acquaintance. Four ordinary lives, four seemingly insignificant decisions. And then the Stranger came. A dark, faceless, and merciless element. The personification of Evil that does not choose its victims at random—it feeds on fear. It seeks out the deepest anxieties, hidden guilts, and suppressed thoughts... and turns them into reality. It plays with the human mind like a cat with a mouse. Slowly, cruelly. The victims soon stop trusting their own senses. Dreams merge with reality. The line between truth and delusion disappears. Every step could be a trap, every mirror a lie. Death begins to seem like a release—but the Stranger always has one last, more terrifying card up its sleeve.

In this story, there is only one rule: those who run from themselves, the Stranger will catch first.
