The Synology DS2422+ NAS, in a tower design, serves as a network storage solution for storing, sharing and protecting data in a multi-user business environment. The device includes twelve bays for SATA hard drives or SSDs and supports the installation of both 3.5" and 2.5" drives. A quad-core 64-bit AMD Ryzen V1500B processor with a frequency of 2.2GHz handles demanding data operations and system processes without any drop in speed. The basic configuration runs with 4GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which can be expanded up to 32GB. The total capacity can be increased by connecting a DX1222 expansion unit to up to 24 drive bays with a total volume of 216PB.

Data transfer speed
The device operates with sequential read speeds of up to 2201MB/s and write speeds of up to 1383MB/s. These parameters accelerate the transfer of large volumes of data and files between multiple users simultaneously. The network interface consists of four 1GbE LAN ports with Link Aggregation support. Users can also install 10GbE or 25GbE network cards in the PCIe slot.
Expandability and capacity scalability
The standard configuration offers 12 bays for 3.5" or 2.5" SATA drives. Connecting the DX1222 expansion unit increases the total number of drive bays to 24 for storing larger volumes of data. The system supports various types of disk arrays, including RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10. The internal 4GB DDR4 ECC memory can be expanded up to 32GB.
Comprehensive backup server
The Active Backup Suite software unifies backups for PCs, servers, virtual machines and cloud services. Integrated deduplication technology significantly reduces storage space requirements when storing multiple versions of files. The Hyper Backup tool performs full system backups to the cloud or external storage devices. In addition, snapshot replication provides protection for shared folders with fast recovery.
Virtualisation and storage support
The server is fully certified for VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer and OpenStack virtualisation platforms. DSM simplifies the provisioning and management of virtual machines directly from the hypervisor. The integration of VMware VAAI and Windows ODX technologies offloads computing operations from the processor to the storage and accelerates data transfers. The Kubernetes CSI driver makes it easy to provision and manage volumes in containers.
Remote collaboration
The Synology Drive service provides access to company documents from a web browser and mobile apps. The Synology Office tool supports collaborative editing of documents and spreadsheets in real time for more effective teamwork. The Synology Chat communication platform is used for secure messaging within the organisation. All data remains under your control on your own hardware.
Optimised for Synology drives and quiet operation
The server's design is suitable for operation with Synology Enterprise hard drives and SSDs. These drives exhibit stable performance in 24/7 continuous operation. Two 120mm fans dissipate heat from the case with a noise level of just 25dB(A). Power consumption is 73.11W in typical operation and drops to 32.12W in hibernation mode.
