Strange places

The short story collection Strange Places brings six stories of people who found themselves in a strange place at a strange time. The strange time here, however, is not midnight after Christmas Eve or the summer solstice, but a critical time in their lives: a midlife crisis, a suddenly brutally conscious aging, a supposed professional peak or, on the contrary, a long unacknowledged creative fall. At a critical stage in their lives, these people find themselves in places with strange pasts that announce themselves to them with surprising intensity. What does historian Marek find out from a hundred-year-old newspaper report? Where had Polednice gone, who like a shadow went from house to house to take the doorknob at the twelfth hour? Did she ever get lost?
