Fourteen stories that are not afraid to look under the skin – into the darkness where arousal intertwines with pain, love with anxiety, and pleasure with guilt.
In his book, Sex and Fear, Jiří Poskočil explores the boundaries of the human soul and body. The characters in his short stories search for comfort, certainty, and meaning – and often find only a mirror of their own demons.
Sometimes sex is an escape from fear. Other times, fear is the last spark of life.
The author meticulously combines psychological depth with harsh realism, creating a mosaic of stories that are as passionate as they are unsettling. Each one stands at the crossroads between pleasure and extinction – and forces the reader to ask how much courage it really takes to live life to the fullest.
Sex and Fear is not a book about the body. It is about the soul trying to survive within it.
