Signal transmission
As an active optical fibre cable, it uses light for data transmission, which allows it to maintain the full 48Gb/s bandwidth even over a length of 20 metres. Unlike conventional metallic cables, it does not suffer from signal degradation and doesn't require an external power supply. The cable is unidirectional, so it's essential to connect the connectors correctly according to their labels – the 'Source' connector to the signal source (computer, console) and the 'Display' connector to the display device (TV, projector).
