Peninsula
A house by the sea. A mother and daughter. And a painful yet moving attempt at reconciliation between generations.
A peninsula in the North Frisian Wadden Sea. This is where librarian Annett has lived for many years, and where she raised her daughter Linn alone after her husband's premature death. After finishing school, Linn, full of energy, set off to see the world, taking part in volunteer projects and eventually landing her dream job at a company supporting forest conservation and restoration. For Annett, her daughter is the embodiment of hope, purpose and the future. One day, however, Linn collapses during a conference, overcome by stress and exhaustion. Annett brings her back home, expecting her to recover within a week. But the week turns into months, and Linn, torn between the pressure to perform and the search for meaning in life, sinks into lethargy. Faced with her daughter's apathy, Annett feels helpless, and their different worldviews start to cause friction between them. Will they learn to understand each other in the end?

In calm, laconic, and captivating language, Kristine Bilkau captures the existential dimension of love and caring for others, its magic and its cruelty. And she shows once again that each of us is living a novel—the lucky ones get theirs written by Kristine Bilkau.
