NOVATION Launchkey 49 MK4
NOVATION Launchkey 49 MK4
The Novation Launchkey MK4 is the fourth generation of one of the world's most popular series of keyboard MIDI controllers. The main change and improvement over the previous version is the new keybed, which is better balanced and mimics the action of an acoustic piano, while the new key profile offers improved playability. The larger models (49 and 61) also feature individual coil springs for each key, providing a smoother, more consistent feel. The Novation Launchkey 49 is a powerful DAW controller with a semi-weighted, waterfall-type keyboard, eight continuous encoders, nine faders, and 16 velocity-sensitive pads for finger drumming and launching clips. The controller also includes creative Chord and Scale modes, which work with the OLED display to help you easily stay in key.

16 drum pads
Advanced DAW control is one of the key areas where the Launchkey excels. It offers seamless control of Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, Reason, and Ardour right out of the box, with no setup required. You get hardware-supported controls that give you full command over transport functions, timeline navigation, mixing and EQ, clip launching, and instrument and effect parameters. And when using Session View in Ableton Live or Live Loops in Logic, the 16 drum pads transform into Launchpad-style clip triggers with RGB backlighting that perfectly matches what you see on screen. You can also create custom mappings for personalised control using the free Components software.
Scale mode
The 16 velocity-sensitive pads feature polyphonic aftertouch for playing drums and instruments and launching clips. Unlike standard pads, each of the Launchkey’s pads is equipped with a unique radial sensor that increases sensitivity and improves consistency for even better performances. Creative features are built directly into the hardware, so they work just as well in your DAW, with hardware synths, or on your mobile devices. The Scale mode now lets you lock the keyboard to one of 30 different scales to eliminate wrong notes, or even map all notes to just the white keys. The Fixed Chord mode triggers full chords from a single key, and the new Chord Maps go even further, letting you create emotive progressions from the Launchkey pads.
Compatible with iOS mobile devices
The latest iteration of the brilliant arpeggiator makes creating sequences for endless inspiration easier than ever. You can split the Launchkey 49 keyboard into two zones and play one with each hand, or layer two MIDI channels across all 49 keys to send the same notes to both. The Launchkey controllers feature a classic analogue MIDI output, so you can easily use them to play with sound modules, samplers, or synthesisers. Being USB-powered also makes them fully compatible with iOS mobile devices, where you can use the free Novation Launchpad app.
