On the Edge of the Law
Alex Verus may be a diviner who can see into the future, but even he couldn’t have predicted this day would come. Alex has agreed to join the Keepers, the magical police force, to protect his friends from his old master, the dark mage Richard Drakh.
Going legit is always difficult for an outcast like Alex, and some Keepers would be more than happy to see the former dark apprentice fail. Especially now that the dark mages are, for the first time in history, seeking a seat on the Council.
Alex finally has the law on his side – but he's also caught between the politics of the Light and Dark factions. Will his new role as a Keeper be enough to protect him as he investigates the criminal underworld with its connections to the highest echelons of power?
Benedict Jacka
Benedict Jacka became a writer almost by accident when, at the age of nineteen, he was sitting in his school library and started writing a story in the back of a workbook. Since then, he has studied philosophy at Cambridge, lived in China and worked in a wide variety of professions from civil servant to bouncer to teacher, before returning to London to study law. According to the author's website, we can look forward to a new series. The first book in its original language is expected to be released in the second half of 2021.
