Summer is reaching its peak in the small town of Brod, and Josefína is convinced that her only holiday pastimes will be painting and training her disobedient mongrel, Otrava. However, her headstrong son, Vincent, arrives unexpectedly, and as if that wasn't enough, Inspector Tvrdík asks her to look after his teenage daughter, Líida.

When a local businessman is murdered, it becomes abundantly clear to Josefína that she certainly won't be bored. With her characteristic energy, she gets entangled in the investigation, and while she uncovers a lot, she also causes plenty of chaos, as usual.

What was the motive for Bořek Votočka's violent death? Infidelity, envy or money? The clues lead in various directions, and the circle of suspects soon grows. Is the murderer the dead man's brother, the grieving widow, his sister-in-law, or perhaps a disgruntled creditor? The perpetually bickering duo Divíšková–Tvrdík try to get to the bottom of it all, and worst of all, circumstances force Josefína to start running…
