The GIGABYTE B840M DS3H WIFI6 motherboard is the foundation for PC builds based on the AMD platform. The AMD B840 chipset and AM5 socket ensure compatibility with AMD Ryzen™ 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors. With its mATX format measuring 24.4×24.4cm, this board is ideal for installation in smaller PC cases. As an AM5 DDR5 board, it features four slots for DDR5 RAM, which can reach overclocked speeds of up to 8200MT/s and support a total capacity of up to 256GB. The processor is powered by a digital 8+2+2 phase power delivery system that maintains stable voltage under heavy loads. Performance and DDR5 memory support
The board uses the AMD B840 chipset for the AM5 socket. Stable power for the installed processor is provided by a digital VRM solution with 8+2+2 phases, which efficiently distributes power and maintains system stability even during demanding tasks or overclocking. This configuration helps to fully utilise the performance of multi-core Ryzen processors. Four slots for DDR5 memory in Dual-Channel mode can accommodate a total capacity of up to 256GB (4× 64GB). Support for AMD EXPO™ and XMP profiles makes it easy to set high memory module frequencies without manual configuration in the BIOS. After activating a profile, the memory reaches speeds of up to 8200MT/s, increasing the system's data throughput.
Board expandability and storage
For the graphics card and other expansions, there is a primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot equipped with the PCIe EZ-Latch mechanism for easy card release with a single press. This is complemented by a second PCIe 3.0 x4 slot, which is suitable for installing capture cards or expansion controllers, for example. You can connect fast storage via two M.2 slots with a PCIe 4.0 interface, which provide high transfer speeds for both system and data NVMe SSDs. One of the M.2 slots includes an M.2 Thermal Guard heatsink, which actively dissipates heat and thus prevents a drop in drive performance under prolonged load. For additional drives, it offers four SATA III ports with support for RAID 0, 1, and 10 configurations.
Network connectivity and multimedia outputs
For network connection, the board offers both wired and wireless solutions. It integrates a fast 2.5GbE LAN network connection, which provides up to 2.5× higher transfer speeds compared to standard gigabit Ethernet. This reduces latency in online gaming and speeds up large file transfers on the local network. Wireless connectivity is provided by a Wi-Fi 6 module with Bluetooth 5.3 support. The WIFI EZ-Plug system simplifies the installation of external antennas by combining them into a single connector. Audio output is handled by a 7.1-channel Realtek Audio CODEC. For connecting monitors, it offers three graphics outputs that work with the processor's integrated GPU: one HDMI 2.1 port and two DisplayPort 1.4 ports.
Features and BIOS
The software suite includes a set of tools for management and tuning. The board integrates the X3D Turbo Mode feature to optimise gaming performance when using select AMD processors with 3D V-Cache technology. The redesigned UC BIOS has a user-oriented interface for easier navigation and system setup. Firmware updates without the need to install a CPU, memory, and graphics card are enabled by the Q-FLASH Plus feature, which only requires a connected power supply and a USB drive with the BIOS file. You can customise your build's appearance with RGB Fusion software, which controls the lighting connected to the internal addressable Gen2 and standard RGB headers and synchronises it with other compatible components.
