Czechoslovak military units in the East
This publication captures not only the formation, development, and combat deployment of Czechoslovak units in the East, but also, in particular, the fates of many of their members – both men and women. Some of them became legendary, others are almost unknown, but most have gradually fallen into oblivion for various reasons. Through photographs, reproductions of war documents, and rare period artefacts from archives and private collections, a significant portion of which have never been published before, their stories are brought to light once more, and in some cases, for the very first time. The book is thus a unique contribution to the understanding of our military resistance during the Second World War and, at the same time, an effort to revive the legacy of our heroes.
ON 6 OCTOBER 1944, CZECHOSLOVAK SOLDIERS ENTERED THEIR HOMELAND THROUGH THE DUKLA PASS. THIS BOOK IS PUBLISHED TO COMMEMORATE THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS SIGNIFICANT EVENT.
