Czech rorents and their half a millennium development in the notated manuscripts of the National Mus
Czech Rorate masses can be described as a long liturgical tradition, which later also became a literary and musical one, that is in many respects exceptional in an international comparison. Nevertheless, we still know little about the past of this remarkable part of our culture and its gradual formation between the 14th and 21st centuries. The reason why no attempt has yet been made to present this development in its entirety can be found precisely in the extraordinary time span of the topic, in its interdisciplinarity, and also in the confusing quantity and diversity of sources and the lack of specialised catalogues for them.
