Frame and motor design
The 28mm thick fan frame, 3mm more than standard fans, increases the internal volume, improving both static pressure and overall airflow. It is powered by a three-phase, six-pole motor that operates at a lower frequency. This design principle reduces resonance and vibration, resulting in lower noise levels, especially at low speeds.
FDB bearing and brass housing
A Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) supports the stable and quiet operation of the rotor. With this type of bearing, the shaft rotates in a thin layer of pressurised oil, which reduces friction and mechanical wear. The entire motor and bearing mechanism is protected by a housing made of CNC-milled brass. The metal housing provides solid support that prevents deformation and maintains precise rotor alignment even after long-term use.
Blades and aerodynamics of the ASUS ProArt PF120 fan
The blades use a liquid-crystal polymer (LCP) composite, which is characterised by its strength and ability to dampen vibrations. This ensures the blades maintain their shape even at high speeds and do not deform. The gap between the blade tips and the inner wall of the frame is 0.5mm. This close fit minimises air leakage and turbulence at the edges, thereby concentrating airflow and increasing static pressure.
Connectors and cable management
A system of patented connectors simplifies installation and cable organisation. The connectors are integrated directly into the fan frame and enable both physical and electrical connection of several fans into a single block. You can then connect the entire chain to the motherboard via a single 4-pin PWM cable. This solution eliminates the need to run a separate cable from each fan and tidies up the interior of the computer case.
