The APC Smart-UPS 1000VA LCD RM backup power supply is a reliable solution for protecting your electronics. This line-interactive UPS with a pure sine wave output provides a stable power supply and protection against power outages and surges. Thanks to its 2U rackmount design and smart features, it is ideal for server rooms and data centres. It offers a real power output of 700W and an apparent power of 1000VA. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) technology corrects network fluctuations without switching to battery power. At full load, it keeps connected devices running for 8.7 minutes, while at half load this time extends to 31 minutes. The built-in LCD display shows key operating parameters and simplifies configuration.

Topology and performance

This backup power supply operates with a line-interactive topology, which uses Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to correct undervoltage and overvoltage without using the battery. It offers an apparent power of 1000VA and a real power of 700W. The pure sine wave output on battery supports the operation of sensitive electronics and servers. At full load, it powers devices for 8.7 minutes; at half load, the backup time extends to 31.0 minutes.

Battery and protection

The unit contains a maintenance-free lead-acid battery that fully charges in 3 hours. To simplify maintenance and reduce operating costs, the battery is hot-swappable and user-replaceable, which eliminates the need to shut down protected equipment. The system provides surge protection with an energy rating of 459J and separate protection for the network cable (RJ-45), which prevents network components from being damaged by surges spreading along the data line.

Management and software

A wide range of communication interfaces are available for management and monitoring. In addition to USB and RS-232 ports, there is also a SmartConnect Ethernet port. This is used for remote cloud monitoring of the unit's status. The SmartSlot expansion slot adds the option to install additional management cards. The included PowerChute software supports automated and safe shutdown of servers during a prolonged power outage. PowerChute software lets you manage and configure outputs for sequential shutdown of less critical equipment.

Connectivity and sockets

A standard IEC 320 C14 input connector is used for connecting to the mains. To power connected devices, the backup power supply offers a total of four IEC 320 C13 output sockets plus two IEC Jumper sockets, which can power additional devices without needing a PDU. All outputs are fully backed up and protected against surges.
