APC Easy-UPS BVX 1200VA (Schuko)

APC Easy-UPS BVX 1200VA (Schuko)
The APC Easy-UPS BVX 1200VA Schuko is a line-interactive UPS that protects home and office electronics from power outages and mains instability. With a total apparent power of 1200VA and a real power of 650W, it's a reliable backup power solution for PCs, workstations or network components. The integrated Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) feature actively corrects undervoltage and overvoltage without switching to battery power, saving its capacity for a complete outage. This UPS with AVR offers a backup time of 6.75 minutes at half load (325W), which provides enough time to safely save your work in progress and shut down connected devices. At a full load of 650W, the backup time is 1 minute. All four Schuko output sockets provide full backup and surge protection, making this a practical 4-socket backup power supply for comprehensive protection.
Key features of the APC Easy-UPS BVX 1200VA (Schuko) backup power supply
- Uses line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)
- Offers four Schuko output sockets with battery backup and surge protection
- Includes integrated protection against voltage spikes and surges
- User-replaceable lead-acid battery
- Compact tower design for easy placement
Performance and voltage stability
The power supply uses a line-interactive topology with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), which stabilises the output voltage across a wide input range of 140V to 300V. This feature corrects undervoltage and overvoltage without switching to the battery, thereby extending its lifespan and keeping connected devices within a safe operating range. The apparent power is 1200VA and the real power is 650W. Efficiency at full load is 97.3% and at half load is 95.2%, which contributes to lower energy consumption and less heat radiation. The switch to battery power occurs with a typical delay of 6ms.
Battery and protection of the APC Easy-UPS BVX 1200VA
Inside the power supply is a 12V lead-acid battery with a capacity of 9.0Ah. At the end of its lifespan, which is between 2 to 3 years, it can be replaced by the user. A full recharge from a discharged state typically takes 8 hours. The design does not support expansion with external battery modules. To protect connected appliances from damage, it integrates surge protection with an energy absorption of 273J, which catches voltage spikes caused by events such as nearby lightning strikes.
Construction, design, connectivity and sockets of the backup power supply
The power supply has a compact tower design with dimensions of 140×190×390mm and a weight of 7.5kg, making it easy to place on the floor or a desk. Its operating noise level reaches 40dBA. It connects to the mains via a permanently installed 1.2-metre cable with a standard Schuko plug. For powering appliances, it offers four Schuko-type output sockets, all of which provide both battery backup and surge protection.
Controls and indicators of the backup power supply
The management and monitoring of this backup power supply is designed for simplicity. All information about the operating status is clearly indicated by LED lights on the front panel, which show whether the unit is running on mains or battery power. In addition to visual signals, the device also uses audible alarms to alert you when it switches to battery mode, the battery is low, or the output is overloaded.
