The APC Easy UPS BV 800VA with Schuko provides 450W of real power and an apparent power of 800VA to protect electronics in homes and small offices. It uses Standby topology and integrates Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR), which stabilises the input voltage without having to switch to the battery. At a full load of 450W, it keeps devices running for 2.5 minutes, while at a half load of 225W, the runtime extends to 15 minutes. The four Schuko output sockets, all with battery backup, power connected devices during a mains failure. Thanks to its compact dimensions of 30.5×92.5×160.5mm and a weight of 5.3kg, the UPS can be mounted on the wall, saving valuable floor or desk space. Performance and topology
This APC 800VA UPS delivers a real output power of 450W. Its Standby (Offline) topology is complemented by an Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) feature. This corrects minor undervoltages and overvoltages from the mains without activating the battery, thereby saving battery capacity for actual outages. The operating efficiency at full load is 97% and reaches 94.5% at half load, which reduces thermal losses and running costs. The output voltage has a stepped approximation to a sinewave, which is suitable for powering most common computer power supplies and consumer electronics.
Indication and operation management
This UPS does not offer advanced management. It does not have a communication interface like USB or a serial port, nor does it support the installation of an SNMP card for network monitoring. An LED indicator on the front panel communicates the operational status, along with clear audible alarms. The alarms notify you when switching to battery power, when the battery capacity is low, or when the output sockets are overloaded. The device does not offer any software for automatic computer shutdown; management is limited to visual and audible checks. The operating noise level does not exceed 40dBA. The UPS offers 4 Schuko CEE 7 output sockets, which provide both battery backup to bridge power outages and surge protection.
Battery and device protection
The unit contains a maintenance-free lead-acid battery with a voltage of 12V and a capacity of 7.0Ah. Its expected lifespan is 3 to 5 years, depending on operating conditions and frequency of use. At the end of its life, it can be easily replaced by the user. The time to fully recharge the battery is approximately 8 hours. The integrated surge protection absorbs energy spikes up to 156J. The UPS also offers a cold start function, which starts the UPS directly from the battery even without mains power.
