Audio-technica ATH-PRO5X, Black
The Audio-Technica ATH-PRO5X headphones are designed specifically for DJs and recording studios. This is reflected in their lightweight construction with a durable metal headband, comfortable ear pads and flip-up ear cups. For balanced, distortion-free sound even at high volumes, they are fitted with 40mm drivers with a power handling capacity of up to 1500 mW. Two high-quality cables, one of which is coiled, are detachable. Even at high volumes, the headphones do not lose their punch or degrade the sound with excessive distortion.

Good design is the foundation
Headphones in this category are put on and taken off many times an hour, and their design must be able to cope with this. When using the PRO5X, you can be sure that the headphones are built to withstand this sort of handling. The metal headband is practically indestructible, and the ear cups tilt smoothly without any issues , whilst the plastic components are robust throughout and show no tendency to creak. Naturally, the headphones also feature a detachable cable with a locking mechanism and a coiled design to prevent it from being pulled out.

Impedance
This figure indicates how much power the headphones require. Headphones with lower impedance (e.g. 32 Ω) are ideal for mobile phones and laptops. Higher impedance (e.g. 80 Ω and above) is more suitable for Hi-Fi players and amplifiers.
Frequency range
This indicates the range of sounds that the headphones can reproduce. The standard range is 20 Hz – 20 kHz, which corresponds to the range of sounds the human ear can hear. Lower Hz = deeper bass; higher kHz = more detailed treble.
Clearly defines the headphone design. Earbuds and canalbuds are suitable for sport or travel, while full-size headphones are suitable for comfortable home listening or as a PC accessory.
The design of the headphones is a fundamental aspect that affects the way the headphones reproduce sound, as well as how the headphones sit on or around the ears. The main types of headphone designs include closed, open and semi-closed. Closed headphones provide sound isolation and are ideal for listening in noisy environments. Open-back headphones, on the other hand, allow air to pass through the headphone drivers, resulting in a more natural sound. Semi-closed headphones are a compromise between the two types, offering balanced sound and a medium level of isolation.
