The Eaton UPS 5E second-generation backup power supply, with a capacity of 1200VA, is a line-interactive UPS in a tower format. It protects electronics in homes and small businesses. It provides a real power output of 660W and, thanks to its fanless design, offers quiet operation, making it suitable for placement directly in a work or living area. Its line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) effectively corrects network fluctuations without switching to battery power. The AVR technology stabilises the output voltage and extends battery life by limiting its unnecessary use during common network fluctuations. Topology and power
The line-interactive topology with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) responds to voltage fluctuations within a wide input range of 140–300V. This way, it actively stabilises the power supply and saves battery capacity for a complete power failure. The apparent power is 1200VA and the real power is 660W. The 95% efficiency at full load helps reduce operating costs and lower the unit's thermal losses.
Battery operation and safety of the backup power supply
The cold start function starts the UPS and connected devices directly from the battery, even without mains power. This feature is practical during extended power outages. The battery charges continuously, even when the unit's main switch is in the off position, so the battery is always fully charged and ready for use. Compliance with international safety standards is proven by certification (CB report) from the independent TÜV organisation. Four Type F (Schuko) output sockets, commonly used in the Czech Republic and other European countries, are provided for connecting protected devices. A built-in USB port handles communication with a computer for managing and monitoring the UPS via software.
