EATON EBM 5PX 72V RT3U Gen2

The EATON EBM 5PX 72V RT3U Gen2 is an external battery module that extends the backup time of compatible UPS units. This 72V rack-mounted battery module is scalable. You can connect up to four of these modules to a single UPS unit, multiplying the available capacity for your critical equipment. The entire assembly, which acts as a backup battery for the UPS, contains twelve sealed lead-acid batteries and can be installed quickly and easily into a standard 3U rack position.

Battery assembly and voltage

The module contains twelve separate, sealed lead-acid batteries, each with a nominal rating of 12V and 9Ah. Their configuration provides a total nominal voltage of 72V to power the connected UPS. The module's line-interactive technology enables the system to achieve a high operating efficiency of 98% at full load, which contributes to lower energy running costs. The module has a robust construction, weighs 39.7kg and is adapted for mounting in a standard 19" rack, where it takes up 3U of height. Its dimensions of 85.5 × 438 × 603mm correspond to standardised positions in server cabinets.

Operation and management

When connected to the main UPS unit, the system automatically detects this external battery module, which simplifies configuration and management. The system immediately recalculates and displays the new, extended backup time. The battery module's sole function is to supply power to the main UPS unit. The module is designed exclusively to work with the Eaton 5PX Gen2 UPS, which automatically recognises and integrates the module into the power management system for an accurate calculation of the remaining backup time.
