Electronic (EIS) Image Stabilization

Electronic image stabilization, often referred to by the acronym EIS, is a technology for reducing shakiness and blurriness caused by camera movement, especially when recording videos. It operates on a purely software-based principle. The device's sensor deliberately captures a slightly larger image than the final output. The surrounding area, which is not visible in the final shot, serves as a manipulation reserve. Internal sensors, such as a gyroscope, detect unwanted movements and shakes. The software then digitally shifts the active image crop in real-time against the direction of these shakes, thereby effectively counteracting them. A consequence of this method is a slight reduction, or "cropping," of the field of view.
