The Apitor Robot J building set combines classic block building with robotics and the basics of programming. The set contains 480 building pieces, a control module with two high-speed motors, and two multi-coloured LED lights, which can be used to build 6 different space-themed models. You can control the finished creations via Bluetooth in the Apitor Kit app, which also offers simple icon-based programming. The robot can move forwards, backwards, sideways and perform 360° turns. The building set is designed for children aged 7 to 12 and is a fun way to develop logical thinking, creativity, manual dexterity and their first experience with programming.
You can use the 480 pieces to create six different models – Robot J, Drill Car, Tank, Mars Rover, Robo Car and Launcher. Once you have finished one model, you can simply take it apart and start building the next. The different versions use the same control module, two motors and LED lights, but offer a different look and way of moving. Apitor Robot J provides plenty of scope not only for building according to the instructions, but also for experimenting with different construction principles.
Apitor Robot J is not just a motorised building set – children can program the finished models using the free Apitor Kit app. The clear, icon-based environment helps them understand basic programming principles such as loops, variables and logical command sequences. This lets children create their own movement sequences and immediately see how their program affects the robot's behaviour. The set naturally combines creative building with logical thinking and problem-solving.
For direct control of the models, the app offers four modes – Dual Motor, Single Motor, Gyro and Path. The robot can respond to virtual motor controllers, the movement of your phone or a path drawn on the screen. It communicates with a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth, and the remote control range exceeds 20 metres. This gives children the choice between classic controls and their own programmed movements.
The control module contains two high-speed motors that give the assembled models the power they need to move. The robot can move forwards and backwards, turn left and right, and also perform 360° turns. The large tracks help maintain stable contact with the surface when driving indoors and outdoors. Thanks to the independent motor control, the robot's movement can be controlled more precisely and used for programming tasks.
Apitor Robot J also includes two multi-coloured LED lights that complement the movement functions with light effects. The main robot model uses movable arm joints and a rotating head, making the final construction feel more alive and offering more play options. The combination of movement, lights and different buildable variants helps children create their own scenarios and develop their imagination.
Building, controlling and programming allows children to discover the principles of mechanics, robotics, logic and programming in a hands-on way. While assembling the individual structures, they practise their spatial awareness and fine motor skills, while programming involves finding the right sequence of commands and solving specific tasks. Apitor Robot J is STEM.org Authenticated™ and designed as an educational building set for children aged 7 to 12.
The individual bricks connect without screws and no tools are required for assembly. The package includes a building manual and a sorting tray to help keep the numerous pieces neatly organised during building. The control module requires 3 AA batteries, which are not included in the package.
