The very stones would proclaim his praise. Bishop Charles of Lichtenstein-Castelcorn (1624-1695) and
The publication commemorates the 400th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Charles II of Olomouc. of Lichtenstein-Castelcorn, one of the most prominent personalities of Moravian history. This aristocratic shepherd was the head of the Olomouc diocese for more than three decades (1664-1695) and had a major influence on its shape after the Thirty Years' War. The book presents in an accessible form his conceptual thinking, building efforts and legal-pastoral reforms, especially through the manual Monitorium sive Instructio brevis, which for a long time determined the life of Moravian parishes. The publication also shows how the bishop's foundations, the care of St. Václav and the network of Baroque buildings have given a face to the landscape and church life. The work is an invitation to further exploration of this important figure of Baroque Moravia.
