The double threat
When Darkness Strikes Again
Alex Cross and Detective Sampson are finally taking a well-deserved break, looking forward to a few days in the wilderness after a series of unpleasant events. What they definitely don't expect are two rival teams of assassins, both controlled by the same criminal mastermind, 'M', who has been tormenting Alex and his family for years. Darkness falls, the only sounds are the distant rapids of a wild river and the ominous crack of gunfire…
James Patterson
James Patterson, currently one of the world's best storytellers and bestselling authors, was born in the United States in 1947. The king of the detective genre writes two to three books a year, but as he says himself, he has more ideas than he could ever write down. His most famous works include the novels featuring protagonist Alex Cross, a police detective and psychologist who hunts down depraved monsters (e.g., Four Blind Mice, Kiss the Girls, Jack and Jill, Along Came a Spider). Two of the stories have been adapted into films, with Morgan Freeman playing the lead role of Alex Cross. Other successful titles include the Women's Murder Club series (e.g., 1st to Die, 2nd Chance). The American television network ABC created a series based on these novels, with James Patterson himself serving as one of the producers. Winner of the Thriller Master Award from The International Thriller Writers, he lives with his wife and son in Palm Beach County, Florida. The publishing house Alpress publishes two of the author's series—the Women's Murder Club and Alex Cross—in addition to his standalone novels.
