The NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 lens is an interesting choice for Nikon mirrorless camera owners with the Nikon Z mount. For its fixed focal length of 24mm (35mm eq.: 35 mm) is called basic or portrait. The field of view is very similar to the perspective of the human eye, so it is suitable for reportage photography and portraits. In terms of aperture, the lens has a fixed f/1.7 with a maximum aperture of 11.Because it's so low, it achieves a shallow depth of field, and that will give you the popular background blur effect. It gives you perfect focusing automatically. The motor is extremely quiet, which you will appreciate especially when shooting videos.

Compact lens with a fixed focal length of 24 mm

The 24mm focal length of the DX-format lens is wide-angle, but not too wide, and offers an image angle equivalent to a 36mm focal length lens on an FX-format camera: It is excellent for its natural perspective in landscape, street photography, portraits and other subjects. Versatile performance, true-to-life colour, high image sharpness and excellent reproduction of out-of-focus areas make this fixed focal length lens the perfect addition to your standard prime zoom lens kit.

Classic all-round perspective

Mount the NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 fixed focal length lens on a Nikon Z DX format camera for a perspective close to that of a conventional 35mm FX format lens, giving you an excellent level of versatility in image composition. Zoom in and fill the entire field of view with your subject, or stay in place and include the background to get a more contextual shot.

Beautiful reproduction of out-of-focus areas for impressive images

Shapes, colours, lights: The natural-looking reproduction of out-of-focus areas of the image with a high aperture lens and fixed focal length allows you to easily blur the background artistically. Shooting with a fully open f/1.7 aperture ensures that subjects or portraits are highlighted or give your images and videos a real sense of spatial depth.

Brilliant low-light photography

The Nikon Z's large-diameter bayonet and high f/1.7 aperture allow more light to be captured, so you can work with low ISO sensitivities and still get clean, brilliant images when shooting subjects in low light levels. Or you can freeze motion using fast shutter speeds without affecting the image sensor exposure and get expressive images of everyday action.

Creative close-ups

If subject detail is your creative goal, a 24mm fixed focal length lens won't let you down. The shortest focusing distance of 0.18 m allows you to capture sharp images when the front of the lens is only 12.4 cm from the subject. Combined with the shallow depth of field you can achieve at f/1.7, your close-ups will be very impressive indeed.

Ideal lens also for video

With a perspective close to the classic 35mm lens preferred by filmmakers, the excellent small fixed focal length lens is also great for video. The NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 lens is very quiet and has suppressed focal length changes when refocusing to avoid changes in the angle of view during recording. Plus, make the most of the shortest focusing distance to capture sharp video footage of nearby objects.

Nikon’s beginnings date back to 1917 in Japan. At first, the company mainly produced lenses - telescopes, binoculars, microscopes and other small, optical equipment. Soon the company expanded its portfolio, producing photographic lenses under the Nikkor brand.

In the field of cameras, particularly among professionals, Nikon quickly gained a reputation as a top manufacturer, which continues today. Its cameras were even included in the equipment of American spacecraft. Nikon designed and produced the legendary Nikon SP 1957, regarded by many as the best camera of all time.

Nikon Z DX 16-50 mm f/2,8 VR (TEST)
