MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC
MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC
The MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC graphics card features 16GB of GDDR7 memory and the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. With DLSS 4.0 technology and Multi-Frame Generation, it delivers outstanding performance in both 4K and 8K resolutions. In Extreme Performance mode, the card boasts a core clock speed of up to 2655MHz and a 256-bit bus, ensuring smooth operation for demanding games and professional applications. Cooling is handled by TORX Fan 5.0, providing efficient heat dissipation, while the Zero Frozr function stops the fans under low load.
Key features of the MSI GeForce RTX 5080 16G VENTUS 3X OC graphics card
- Extreme Performance mode boosts the clock speed to 2655MHz, delivering higher frame rates in demanding game titles
- 16GB of GDDR7 memory with a 30GHz frequency on a 256-bit bus provides sufficient bandwidth for large amounts of data
- Fifth-generation Tensor Cores accelerate AI operations, using neural networks to enhance the quality of lighting and reflections
- NVIDIA Reflex 2 with Frame Warp minimises input latency and reduces the time between mouse movement and on-screen response
- DisplayPort 2.1b outputs support 4K at 480Hz or 8K at 120Hz with DSC compression
Blackwell architecture and AI features
The card uses the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture with a GB203 chip, which contains 10752 CUDA cores organised into improved streaming multiprocessors. These units are optimised for processing by neural shaders, which use neural networks instead of traditional code. The fifth-generation Tensor Cores support the FP4 format and enable AI models to run with higher throughput. DLSS 4.0 introduces Multi-Frame Generation, which can generate up to three frames between two conventionally rendered frames.
Cooling system
The cooling system combines three TORX Fan 5.0 fans with a large heatsink. Each fan is fitted with two sets of ball bearings, which reduce noise during rotation. A nickel-plated copper base makes direct contact with the GPU chip and memory modules, improving heat dissipation. The heat pipes have a square cross-section where they contact the GPU, maximising the surface area for heat transfer. The pipes are filled with a heat transfer medium and distribute heat evenly across the entire surface of the heatsink. Vents in the backplate allow air to pass through to the heatsink. The Zero Frozr function monitors the GPU temperature and turns off the fans at values below 60°C, ensuring silent operation.
Construction and software
The custom PCB includes a copper layer, which improves conductivity and heat dissipation from the power circuits. The PCB also contains additional fuses that protect sensitive components from overcurrent and short circuits. MSI Center is an application for monitoring temperatures, frequencies, and voltages in real time. It includes an AI Tuning feature that analyses system load and automatically adjusts the GPU frequency according to the type of application running. Extreme Performance mode increases the frequency to 2655MHz. Silent Mode reduces fan speeds and prioritises lower noise over performance. MSI Afterburner offers manual overclocking with the option to adjust voltage, clocks, and fans.
