In principle, this hardware is just a premium battery backup that powers all devices that need electricity. The CyberPower PR1500ERT2U UPS features the Line interactive design approach. Off-line is the simplest form when power fails, since it connects to the battery and disconnects from the mains power. The line interactive UPS enhances the simpler off-line version of data line surge suppression to guard against dangerous surges and spikes.

An important parameter is the UPS run time. This depends on the power consumption of the connected electronics – for example, at half-load (50%), the run time lasts much longer. The load of the UPS governs the operating time, which at full load is 6 min and at a load of 50%, it's 18,6 min. It is therefore essential to estimate the energy consumption of the connected appliances and ideally to have some extra power left. The CyberPower PR1500ERT2U specifies the apparent power as 1500, but in reality, the actual power usage is 1500 W.
