A tide of black steel

In the new Age of Wrath series, inspired by Norse mythology, Anthony Ryan returns to the world of the Covenant of Steel.

The first volume in Anthony Ryan's magnificent new fantasy trilogy takes readers further north of Albermaine — to Ascarlia, as this ancient empire enters a new era. An age of blood and steel. The Age of Wrath.

For centuries, the kingdom, famed for its ruthless warriors and epic sagas, has been ruled by sister-queens, and no one dared to question their power. Until now.

Rumours spread throughout the land about the longships of mysterious tattooed warriors sailing under the flag of the murderous Oathsworn cult, long thought to be extinct. A wave of black steel is sweeping over Ascarlia, crushing anything and anyone who stands in its way.

Thera, a loyal servant of the sister-queens, is tasked with uncovering the truth and sails north. Adventure also awaits her despised younger brother, Felnir, who longs to find the mysterious Hall of Altvar — a treasury filled with divine riches — and win the favour of the three queens at his sister's expense.

Brother and sister — along with a gifted young scribe and a captive with extraordinary abilities — will play key roles in the coming storm.

The Age of Wrath is about to begin.
