The Apitor Robot S construction kit takes children from simple controls to more advanced programming with sensors. The set includes 389 building blocks, 2 motors, an infrared and colour sensor, and 2 LED lights, which can be used to build 10 different models. With the free Apitor Kit app, you can control the finished constructions via Bluetooth and program them using the Scratch 3.0 graphical interface. The robot can react to distance, obstacles, or colours, and you can also incorporate LED lights, sounds, and movement into your programs. There are also voice recognition and voice synthesis functions. The kit is designed for children aged 7 and over, and develops logical thinking, creativity, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills in a fun way.
The Apitor Robot S allows you to build 10 different models with various mechanisms and movements from a single set of 389 pieces. Among them you'll find an aeroplane, RC car, crane, elephant, boxer, carousel, pendulum ride, music box, mystery box, and a robotic vacuum cleaner. Thanks to the diverse constructions, children learn about different uses of motors, gears, and sensors and can gradually discover how each mechanism works.
The Apitor Robot S uses the Scratch 3.0 graphical programming environment, where children assemble colourful blocks using a drag-and-drop methour This means they don't have to write complex programming code, yet they can still learn the principles of conditions, loops, and logical connections. What's more, they can see the results of their program instantly on the actual model—commands can control motors, sensors, LED lights, and sounds.
The Robot S is equipped with an infrared sensor and a colour sensor, which significantly expand the programming possibilities. The infrared sensor can detect distance and recognise obstacles, so you can create a program to stop or avoid an object, for example. The colour sensor, in turn, recognises colours and allows you to change the model's behaviour based on the colour it detects. This enables children to create more sophisticated programs based on real conditions around the robot.
The pair of high-speed motors aren't just for powering vehicles. Depending on the model built, they can provide driving, turning, swinging, lifting, or other mechanical movements. When using the remote control, the model can be driven forwards, backwards, left, and right, and it can also perform 360° turns. This makes the Apitor Robot S suitable not only for programming but also for classic play and direct control.
The construction kit includes 2 LED lights with 7 available colours, which can be directly integrated into your created program. For example, they can signal the robot's status, react to a recognised colour, or function as part of a game. This allows children to grasp the principle of linking sensor input with a specific light response.
The Apitor Robot S also supports voice detection, voice synthesis, and working with sounds and music. This means the robot can react to voice input and also create voice responses within its supported functions. Sound elements can be combined with movement, sensors, and light effects, allowing children to create more interactive programs and their own scenarios.
The free Apitor Kit app not only lets you program the robot but also control it directly via Bluetooth. There are 3 remote control modes available, and the model can move in all basic directions as well as rotate 360°. The app is available for Android and iOS devices and also includes free programming lessons that help you gradually discover the possibilities of lights, sounds, sensors, and movement.
The Apitor Robot S combines building, mechanics, sensors, and programming, so children can progress from assembling a specific model to controlling it directly and creating their own automated responses. Working with the individual constructions fosters creativity, patience, and spatial thinking, while programming develops logic and problem-solving skills. The construction kit has received the STEM.org Authenticated™ mark.
