SMLIGHT SLZB-MR5U

SMLIGHT SLZB-MR5U
The SMLIGHT SLZB-MR5U bridge serves as a multi-radio coordinator and adapter for managing your smart home via the Zigbee and Thread protocols. This device moves wireless communication to a stable wired foundation and integrates two separate Silicon Labs radios for reliable coordination of connected devices. It connects to the network via a fast 100Mb/s Ethernet interface, eliminating the latency and interference typical of wireless bridges. To ensure reliable coverage in large spaces and multi-storey buildings, the device includes two external 5dB gain antennas. These antennas significantly improve the stability of the mesh network and facilitate communication with remote sensors.
Key features of the SMLIGHT SLZB-MR5U bridge
- Two separate Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radios for high-performance Zigbee and Thread networks
- Integrated PoE power module for installation with a single Ethernet cable
- Two external 5dB gain antennas to improve signal coverage and mesh network stability
- Special USB Passthrough mode for connecting USB accessories over the local LAN
- SLZB-OS operating system with a web interface and diagnostic tools for management
- 100Mb/s Ethernet port providing stable latency without wireless interference
- Espressif ESP32-S3 wireless chips to expand connectivity with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Quad-radio architecture
The device uses an advanced hardware architecture with four wireless modules to efficiently distribute tasks. Two separate Silicon Labs EFR32MG24 radios handle Zigbee and Thread communication, while an Espressif ESP32-S3 chip provides 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. This configuration prevents network overload in dense installations with a large number of active devices.
Reliable Power over Ethernet
This bridge supports Power over Ethernet (PoE) via an integrated module, which simplifies installation in technical cabinets or under ceilings. A single network cable is all you need to operate the device, as it carries both data and electrical power. Alternatively, a standard USB interface provides power to suit specific installation requirements.
Advanced management and operating system
The pre-installed SLZB-OS gives users complete control over the network infrastructure through a web interface. Administrators have access to a local API, MQTT integration, and diagnostic tools for monitoring logs and network status. Regular OTA updates keep the firmware secure and fully compatible.
Remote USB connection over LAN
The USB Passthrough function lets you connect external USB accessories, such as a Z-Wave dongle, to the device and make them accessible on the LAN. This mode facilitates the remote placement of additional communication modules away from the main server. The system acts as a remote USB bridge for centralised control from a single location. This approach helps to keep the cabling around the main server tidy and allows radio modules to be placed in locations with better range.
