I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 5600 processor
The best processor for AM4
A big increase in FPS in games
Super with the RTX 5070Ti Phoenix graphics card
after setting PBO to -30 in the BIOS, the temperatures reach up to 84°C at full load and clock speed
Thermal pad (used ARCTIC MX-6 paste)
Requires powerful cooling (e.g. NZXT KRAKEN PLUS RGB 240 Black)

I upgraded from a 5700G and, for example, in FS2020 the increase in FPS is really noticeable. Most importantly, that little bit of stuttering has disappeared, and not just in this game. For me, it's a great choice for AM4 machines with loads of RAM that was an absolute bargain a few years back.
Brilliant upgrade for AM4.

If you’re tempted by the AM5, don’t buy it. The 9800X3D is priced similarly; B650 boards aren’t overpriced; and yes, DDR5 is quite expensive, but you’ll still get a decent amount of money for your DDR4 on the second-hand market. I just really wanted to have this legendary model, and I’m far too lazy to go through the hassle of swapping the motherboard in my PC and everything else again. It handles -30 PBO with ease, with temperatures in Cinebench reaching up to 83°C at 4.45 GHz. The Ice Pad is a nice bonus, but it takes quite a while to work properly. Just let it run for a week and the temperatures will be fine. If you don’t mind replacing the thermal paste on your cooler once a year, you might as well bin the Ice Pad – it’s not that great.

I’ve switched from the standard 5800X, which simply can’t compete because of its small cache. It wasn’t even part of the plan to begin with. But whilst the X3D was no longer on the market, the AM5 had become so popular that I decided to go ahead with this experiment. So, thanks to this CPU, I’ll try to skip the whole AM5 generation. The PBO is running steadily at -20; I’ve adjusted the fan curve because, by default, the fan on the cooler was spinning up unnecessarily often. He reacted immediately to sudden spikes in temperature, completely unnecessarily. So every now and then he’d go up and then straight back down again. I’m using a Scythe Mugen rev. for cooling. b and it’s a brilliant air cooler. The CPU runs in power-saving mode everywhere; temperatures are at most perhaps around 76°, give or take. If you don’t fancy paying a high price for an AM5 RAM module, or if you’ve only got one kidney left, this beast will help you get round that. Of course, you’ll also need a suitable graphics card and, ideally, 32 GB of RAM. What the AM6 will bring remains to be seen. But I’m definitely set for years to come.
96 cache
absolutely top of his class in games for his age
you can give the expensive AM5 a miss
icepad – no more pasting ever again
Nothing I couldn’t sort out in the BIOS via the fan curve or PBO
