Extremely smooth operation
With a compact size and weight of just 725g, you don't have to think twice about packing the 14.2x zoom lens in your camera bag or simply leaving it permanently on the camera during your walks. Even when extended to its longest focal length of 400mm, the extreme zoom range lens balances incredibly well and is easier to control than a fixed focal length super telephoto lens.
Superzoom with a passion for close-up objects
The versatile zoom lens allows you to focus as close as 0.2m away from your subject at the shortest focal length and 1.2m away at the longest focal length of 400mm.1 The lens' maximum magnification of 0.35x allows you to achieve impressive close-up images. Just be careful with the sun visor on: with a superzoom, you get so close that you have to be careful not to touch the subject with the sun visor.
Vibration reduction for stable images
Built-in 5 EV optical vibration reduction suppresses the effects of shake for sharp images even in low light. If you're shooting fast-moving action, SPORT mode also stabilizes the viewfinder image. In addition, if you mount a zoom lens from wide-angle to super telephoto on a Nikon Z camera that supports synchronous Vibration Reduction, you can shoot up to 5.5 EV slower shutter speeds than without Vibration Reduction.
