The Tamron 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD lens for Sony E-Mount, TAMRON's latest innovation, is an unrivalled new standard fast aperture and zoom lens that is easy to carry for everyday photography and video shooting. The lens is designed for Sony's full-frame mirrorless cameras with E-mount mount and has been created in a relentless pursuit of image portability that is ideal for everyday use. . The focal length range starts from 20mm at the ultra-wide end and covers up to 40mm in the standard focal range, and is the smallest and lightest in its class. The lens is designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras (aka mirrorless cameras) and cannot be used with digital SLR cameras.

The Tamron 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD lens for Sony E-Mount delivers beautiful images throughout the zoom range and is great for photography as well as vlogging and other video content. Uses the AF VXD drive system, which uses a linear motor focusing mechanism. The VXD system boasts excellent silence and responsive operation, and achieves high-speed, high-precision autofocus. With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.17m and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.8 at the wide end, the lens provides exceptional close-up shooting capabilities and offers the additional feature of wide macro photography.

VXD autofocus is a world premiere: It is the first linear focusing motor developed by Tamron for superior autofocusing. The two VXD modules, which operate in a floating system and are controlled by electronic pulses, ensure fast and accurate focusing on both near and distant objects. The new motor also ensures improved AF tracking, for example when shooting sports. The autofocus works so quietly that you can shoot even in situations that require complete peace and quiet.
Tamron lenses have a weatherproof lens hood that optimally protects the sensitive interior from wind and weather. The robust outer shell is effectively sealed against moisture ingress at all critical points (e.g. between the focusing ring and the bayonet connection). This ensures reliable operation even in the harshest outdoor shooting conditions.

Like LD, it prevents chromatic aberration and other defects. However, XLD is a much more sophisticated system, which is mostly used in telescopes. Colour defect is a common optical defect, manifesting itself in many ways. We often talk about so-called chromatic aberration, which is more common in wide-angle lenses. LD members are made of special optical glass with extremely low light scattering, which effectively compensates for colour defects, especially noticeable when using telephoto lenses in the extreme position.
The BBAR coating prevents reflection and scattering of light falling on the lens surface. Avoid loss of brightness and contrast and prevent "ghosting". The BBAR coating also contributes to the natural colour rendering. Since 2019, the advanced BBAR G2 coating has been used. The fluoride coating permanently protects the front lens from contamination. Oil and water droplets do not stick to the surface, which is therefore very easy to clean.
The new "TAMRON Lens Utility" software has been developed specifically for the configuration of compatible lenses. The TAMRON Lens Utility can be controlled via a computer by connecting the lens from its connector port via the TAMRON USB-C cable. Users can customize functions and update firmware through the lens. With individual settings, the lens can be optimally adapted to the shooting situation, such as photography or video recording.
