The Sony FE 16mm f/1.8 G fixed focal length lens from the G Lens™ series is ideal for photographing scenery, architecture, starry skies and a host of other subjects. It also offers excellent close-up images and accurate and silent autofocusing. The FE 16mm F1.8 G lens can be combined with standard 67mm filters, is compact and lightweight, and can be easily balanced using a gimbal. With a 16mm angle of view and F1.8 aperture, the lens can capture wide-angle shots with beautiful background bokeh.

Two AA (Advanced Aspherical) lenses minimize field curvature and astigmatism for high image resolution at all apertures. One Super ED (extra low dispersion) glass element and three ED glass elements suppress chromatic aberration to the edges of the image while minimizing flare and multiple images. It is the ideal lens for creating dynamic wide-angle perspectives with perfect resolution.

The Sony FE 16mm f/1.8 G lens produces stunning bokeh thanks to a high maximum aperture of F1.8, a circular 11-blade aperture and carefully controlled spherical aberration. Close-up performance is excellent with a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m/0.5ft and a maximum magnification of 0.25 when using autofocus (0.13m/0.43ft, 0.30× for manual focus) - all of which allows you to capture unique wide-angle perspectives with beautiful deep bokeh.
Use of aspherical lens elements, including Sony's high-precision AA (Advanced Aspherical) lens, made it possible to create a full-frame ultra-wide-angle lens, which is compact, with dimensions of 73.8 × 75 mm (3 × 3 inches), and weighs only 304 grams (10.8 pounds). It's small, lightweight and mobile while providing spectacular shooting performance for a wide range of subjects, including landscapes, architecture, night scenes and more.

Two linear XD (extreme dynamic) motors ensure fast and accurate autofocus and tracking. A control algorithm developed specifically for XD linear motors achieves response enhancements that eliminate delays and vibrations that can occur when driving many focusing elements. The result is extremely quiet operation with minimal vibration. You can capture important moments when shooting active, fast-moving subjects.
Advanced lens technologies limit focus shift to minimize changes in angle of view and keep video recording smooth. An unwanted angle-of-view compensation function provided by compatible α bodies is also supported, and the Active Image Stabilisation mode integrated in the camera body makes it easy to capture wide-angle videos while walking. The Sony FE 16mm f/1.8 G lens can be combined with standard 67mm filters and can be easily balanced when using a gimbal.

Includes focus ring, focus lock button, focus mode switch, aperture ring and aperture lock switch. An alternative function can be assigned to the focus lock button. The aperture ring allows versatile control and the on/off switch adds multi-purpose functionality. The focus mode switch allows you to instantly switch between auto and manual focus. Dust and moisture proof design and fluorine coating on the front member maximizes reliability.
Sony Corporation is a Japanese company founded in 1946. Its headquarters is located in Tokyo. Its beginnings were humble. The first product sold under the Sony brand was a transistor radio. It was those radios that played a pivotal role in the company's expansion in the 1960s and the world quickly began to associate Sony products with a reliably stellar price-performance ratio.
In the 1970s, Sony was severely affected by the global economic crisis. Many analysts considered the company effectively defunct and could see no future for it. However, they underestimated the famous Japanese perseverance and courage. The crisis was not a disaster for Sony; on the contrary, it served as a launching pad to even greater heights. The company recovered and soon changed the media landscape with the development of the CD and later the DVD. In the early 1990s, Sony achieved another major success with the introduction of the PlayStation gaming console. It is the gaming consoles that best represent the intersection of the three key areas in which the company operates today – electronics, video games, and the entertainment industry.
