SIRUI Astra Series 100mm T1.8 1.33X Full-frame Anamorphic Cine Lens (Z Mount, Neutral Flare)
The SIRUI Astra Series 100mm T1.8 1.33X Full-frame Anamorphic Cine Lens (Z Mount, Neutral Flare) allows you to shoot widescreen cinematic video on Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. This 100mm fixed-focal-length optical instrument with a T1.8 aperture renders an image field for both Full-Frame and APS-C sensors. The design combines optical elements with mechanical controls for smooth focusing and aperture changes during filming. The anamorphic optical system creates neutral flares and an oval bokeh from light sources. The all-metal body provides mechanical protection for the internal optical elements. An aspherical optical element corrects geometric distortion and helps maintain the compact dimensions of the entire barrel. Dust and moisture seals protect the internal electronics and optics from adverse weather conditions.
Key Features of the SIRUI Astra Series 100mm T1.8 1.33X Full-frame Anamorphic Cine Lens (Z Mount, Neutral Flare)
- The lens covers full-frame sensors
- T1.8 aperture allows you to shoot in low light and creates a soft bokeh
- Fast and precise autofocus ensures smooth transitions when shooting video
- Quickly switch between autofocus and manual focus
- The lens creates a widescreen 2.4:1 cinematic ratio without cropping the image
- Creates an oval bokeh and a vertical background stretch
- With neutral anamorphic flares
- Lightweight for easy transport and quick lens changes
- Compatible with Nikon cameras
Anamorphic Imaging and Widescreen Format
The lens works with a constant 1.33x squeeze factor, which horizontally compresses the captured scene. When de-squeezed in post-production, you get a widescreen 2.4:1 aspect ratio without needing to crop the top and bottom of the shot. This process preserves the full sensor resolution and brings a cinematic perspective to your video footage.
Aperture
The fast T1.8 aperture makes it easier to work in poor lighting conditions without needing to significantly increase the ISO sensitivity. The low aperture number contributes to creating a distinct oval blur from light sources in the background. With this aperture, the optical system creates a very shallow depth of field, which separates the main subject from the background.
Autofocus with STM Motor
The autofocus system uses a stepping motor (STM) that operates quietly and smoothly during audio recording. The focusing algorithms track selected subjects and reduce jerkiness during transitions between different distances. The silent focusing drive eliminates distracting noises in the final video soundtrack. Fast and precise focusing provides stable results for both dynamic video shooting and portrait photography.
Controls
On the body, there is a switch between autofocus and manual focus for a quick mode change without needing to enter the camera's menu. A mechanical aperture ring lock prevents accidental shifting of the set aperture value during handling. Users can also use the programmable FN button, to which selected camera body functions can be assigned.
Variable Aperture and Focus Adjustment
The aperture ring offers a switchable function between smooth operation for video and clicked steps for photography. The identical positioning of the gear rings makes it easy to swap different focal lengths within a single camera rig. The focus ring has a dual scale in metres and feet, and its gearing is compatible with follow-focus systems.
