Huge card in a big mega box. Quality of workmanship is great, no plastic sharpener from Pali. The rain got worse due to the first game I chose, Alan Wake 2 at max details in full HD I was around 30fps. The available FSR2.1 boosted the performance by about 50% but the picture was quite blurry. The coils and fans started humming. I turned the game off and started debugging. In 5min significant improvement (noise, coil whine, consumption). Further improvements are offered by optiscalar, which allows to enable FSR4, e.g. v Alan W2. There will be a significant improvement in visual quality. Frame generation is not working very well yet but it is a matter of time. For the noisy cooler and coil whine I would give 3,5 stars.
Chip 9070XT
16GB VRAM
Rasterization performance at the level of the more expensive rtx5070Ti
RTX performance
FSR4.0 upscaling if supported
Tuning in drivers (the card can be operated with 220-240W TDP without loss of performance)
For games without FSR4 support, DLSS/XeSS or FSR can be enabled using the optiscalar module to provide significantly better image quality
nice processing of the card - white aluminium with decent XFX logo
I find the image quality in stalker 2 for example better than nvidia. but that may be subjective
the card still has potential for the future
Considering the size of the cooler, the fan behavior is quite bad (from 1600rpm noisy, about 39dBa). Without undervolting they go up to 2200rpm (42dBa)
coil whistling (can be reduced by lowering power, lowering TDP or turning on V-SYNC) but still very audible. For vync on at 75Hz it's OK but it you're reducing the power
FSR 1,2 and 3.1 offer a crappy picture
nvidia has a head start with DLSS 4.0 and FG support (Alan Wake 2 runs better on RTX5070 without modifications)
Weaker performance for path tracing compared to nvidia (but could be traced before purchase)
the default power consumption is around 330W (also a known thing)
