It met expectations, motion detection, person detection, the ability to set the detection zone, online video viewing, video storage on the cloud (1 month free, then about 800, - CZK per year) or on SD card.

Easy pairing with phone, possibility to share the camera with family, power from solar panel works very well so far, we will see how the solar will work in winter when the panel can freeze, snow, etc.

Installed in a cottage, in a small village, wifi connection via data card (over the air), no fixed internet in the place, yet it works very well, you can view the camera footage remotely via phone, it can be downloaded to your phone. If you want to keep an eye on what's going on at your remote cottage, perfectly satisfactory.

Clever features such as on-off, automation, etc.

The manufacturer declares IP 65, which is quite essential for an outdoor camera, so far it works well in this rainy summer

The basic cable from the solar panel to the camera is about 20 cm, but there is an extension cable in the package, so about 3 m between the solar panel and the camera is not a problem. I placed the solar panel high up to be protected by the roof overhang (especially in winter from snow), the camera is about 2.5 m lower to be relatively in the face of intruders. I recommend to place the camera at a height of 2, 5 to 3 m max, otherwise you have shots like from a drone, which will not tell you much about the intruder. But not lower, so that he can't reach the camera with his hands and damage it.

Theoretically you can talk to the detected person remotely via the camera, but of course it depends on the quality of the internet connection, I haven't tried it yet

Night shots are black and white, with high noise. You can light up the night shot (light integrated on the camera) then the color and quality is sufficient. But the light can only be switched on remotely, via an app on your phone (max. 5 minutes). If at night, when motion is detected, the camera could light up automatically, then it would be almost perfect

Only the admin can turn off the camera or people and motion detection, not family members (who you share the camera with). Though at least the settings aren't drilled into by anyone with access, so maybe that can be seen as more of a plus, depending on how one looks at it.

Whoever you want to share the camera with must first have a TP link Deco account. So you have to create a username and password for the person, install the Tapo app on their phone, log into the app with that account, and then you can prompt (authorise) them to share from your admin phone, which is quite annoying.

If you give up your paid cloud and your camera and SD card are stolen, you don't have footage of the intruder. If your camera isn't stolen (maybe not noticed), then you can download the footage remotely, from the card to your phone, and you don't need the cloud in theory
