Normally I start with the positives, but this time I'll take the review from the end. There are not many negatives, but they can be crucial for some people. The router has "WPA, WPA2, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3" in its security description, but in reality it only offers WPA2 for the 2.4 GHz network and WPA2 or a mix of WPA2/WPA3 for the 5 GHz network. Thus, pure WPA3 cannot be set up. In addition, the 2.4GHz network also lacks a WPA2/WPA3 mix option, which disappointed me and was the main reason I returned the device. The Wi-Fi range, on the other hand, is very good. Through three walls of the brick house, the router managed a stable connection at a distance of 12 m. The signal indicator showed me the connection even at a distance of 18 m, but between 12-18 m the internet was disconnected. The Wi-Fi connection and the ability to ping the router remained, but the internet did not work. I have not encountered this problem with any other router yet. However, Wi-Fi works flawlessly up to 12 m. I tested on two phones with iOS and Android. A big plus is the firmware. The router has fully localized English with understandable translation and the settings are designed so that even a complete beginner can handle it. Switching from router to access point mode is a matter of one click and confirmation. There is no need to change the IP address range, disable DHCP, or make other manual adjustments. The biggest advantage is that when you change to AP, the WAN port automatically switches to LAN, so even in AP mode you still have three LAN ports available for other devices. Setting up regular Wi-Fi and the guest network is also very simple and everything works as it should. More advanced users may miss the ability to disable WPS or the lack of VLANs, but for the vast majority of users this is a very good option.
Very easy to set up.
In AP mode, the system changes the function of the WAN port to LAN.
The guest network properly restricts access to the network by default.
Wifi range is decent, as expected. BTW: In the description of Alza the antenna is 5 dBi, but according to the manufacturer it is 6 dBi.
Tenda presents: "The strongest WPA3 security - this latest standard ensures maximum security for your Wi-Fi network", but in fact it only has a WPA2/WPA3 mix, and only for a 5 GHz network. So WPA3 itself is not here.
At a greater distance from the router, the wifi shows me that I am connected and have a signal, but the internet is not working. I haven't encountered such a problem with any other router.
The term VLAN here refers to IPTV. The classic use of VLANs to create a full-fledged separate network for devices is missing here.
