The Technics SL-1500 C was an immediate hit, it is precision made and plays nicely out of the box. Plus, it's a great foundation for tuning. The packaging materials have been updated and the transfer case is no longer stuck in the polystyrene cavity in the bag. It is placed in a cardboard box together with other small parts. On the box is written in Czech: "Direct drive turntable system". Czech instructions are not present. At my request, Alza provided the Czech manual in PDF, since then it is available for download in the "Advice and guides" section.

This is solved by adjusting the level (arm lift distance) of the Auto Lift. But without a service manual this is not possible. I would appreciate it if the user manual would include this setting with a description of how to change it.

I will describe my personal experience with this device, which on the one hand is positive and pleasant, but on the other hand some things surprise me. The first and quite fundamental problem is the lack of Czech instructions, which can cause quite significant problems for those who are not familiar with it. Especially for those users who have not encountered turntables of the modern province and have no knowledge of English. I have therefore attached the manual in English, which I have sort of translated and put together. Maybe this can help someone. But I have to appreciate the quality workmanship, and the high quality sound impression. The sound system is really very high quality, it has practically no audible crosstalk at all, although it also depends on the equipment the user connects to it. However, what surprised me very unpleasantly was the fact that I struggled for quite a long time with the balance of the sound system! The tonearm has a main weight attached from the manufacturer, which adjusts the pressure of the tremble as it is known to fans from older types of turntables. But it also has a chrome weight that serves as a fancy ending of the soundbar arm. And that's where the dog is buried! Logically, if you put the whole sound system together like this, it cannot be balanced! The head of the pickup is too light and the weight hits the end of its shielding path with 0.6 g of pressure! The manufacturer probably didn't realize that the head of the speaker is too light and exaggerated the weight of the counterweight. There are two ways to solve this: Either weight the head of the pickup with some kind of weight to compensate for the excess weight at the end of the arm, (I can't quite imagine it not looking horrible), or sand off some of the weight at the end of the pickup. Neither solution is very elegant, let's face it. Finally I had the idea to unscrew the chrome end weight completely and just screw in a plain screw instead. It's lighter, doesn't interfere with the design, and it's fully fit for purpose! The shoulder, or even the whole soundboard, was already balanced. Otherwise, with the old underbalance, the soundboard is so light on the pressure that antiskating "takes it off" the board. But I am surprised that such a thing can happen at all with such a renowned manufacturer. The second thing is the "auto lift" function. The sound system does indeed shut down, but not after the announced 10-15 seconds, but after well over a minute! Setting up this function is incredibly complicated, you have to enter the service mode of the built-in computer and this is completely illusory without a really good Czech service manual. The good thing is that all this "awkwardness" can be turned off with a switch on the back. Its accessibility is appalling, but so be it. However, it took me a whole afternoon to sort out all these "little things", but on the other hand I can say that the effort was worth it. The sound quality definitely FULFILLS ALL THE PRECONDITIONS OF A HIGH QUALITY UPPER MIDDLE CLASS GRAMOPHONE!
