After a year and a bit, the plastic of the head bridge at the joint broke. Complaint not acknowledged although according to reviews it is a system defect where SONY underestimated the stress and chose the wrong material.
A new head bridge costs half the price of the headphones and is guaranteed to break too.

Comfortable, they go on my head for hours and I usually don't mind headphones. I probably wouldn't give it a whole day straight, but 3 hours ok, then take it off for a while and the next 3 hours is perfectly fine. But like I said, I have more sensitive ears.
On a charge it lasts me 2 days of work when using ANC (about 2x 8 hours I guess)
They can be charged in minutes for hours of use.
I'm now working temporarily 3 meters from the construction site (they are fixing the road in front of the house) and I can do deep mental work. Absolutely impossible without these headphones. I was considering a canal for concentration, but these headphones are a portable canal on my ears. For me, it's a blast.
As written here, the finish is patching a bit, but nothing too bad (I have the blue color).
Charging cable very short (not limiting, just rather surprising).
Also wrote here, some sounds from outside do not shade perfectly, but for me still very decent ANC. Those who want a better option should go for the new version 6.

May 2022 model, excellent ANC, compared to Apple AirPods Max, they also dampen the noise generated by their own body, which is a bit of magic, but it works. They help me to concentrate in busier environments, I have the playback volume from the TIDAL music platform at about 20 - 33% and that's enough. If I want the music loud, I max out at 60% of the volume range. It can play really deep, no need to adjust the depths by default, they are just right. On their own, they have a poorer response above 1 kHz and you need to chase higher frequencies on the integrated EQ, which only works on BT. I commend the guide for finding your own EQ without needing to know frequency spectra. After adjusting the equalization myself, I am completely satisfied with the sound. Personally, I have a bit of pressure on the head bridge and after a while I have to move it a bit. Overall the fit is very good, the ears are comfortable. The advanced features around the headphones are awesome, but I barely use half of them. I enjoy connecting two devices at the same time via BT. The microphone array around the shells ensures very good isolation during a phone call and the call is not disturbed by the surrounding debate. I have had them for two weeks and I am still thrilled with them, they are great. Sony is likely to release a new model in the summer of 2025, we can expect the price of the WH-1000XM5 to drop as early as spring 2025. TOP

The headphones are definitely worth the price. Perfect sound together with noise cancelling is the bomb. I also really liked the motion recognition where it changes the noise cancellation and transparent mode itself, so I don't have to take the headphones off when I walk down the street, they switch to transparent mode after the first few steps and if the music is not playing too loud I can hear passing cars and pedestrians in time.
