We bought it as a complement to the HW-S50A soundbar, which natively supports 3.0 and DTS: X. Samsung claims that with these speakers can play even 5 channel i.e. full DTS sound. In fact, speakers can only do this with soundbars that natively support 5 or more channels of sound. Otherwise it works as a duplicator of stereo sound. The sound quality of the speakers itself is not stunning either, considering how much the speakers cost. I have 2 JBL flip 5 plugged in as stereo and the sound from them is 2 classes better.

Pairing with the HW-S50A soundbar was seamless

When the soundbar is on, the sound from the speakers is minimal

With the HW-S50A it can't support 5 channel sound - it plays the same channel as the soundbar

The sound quality is not very good - 2 JBL flip 5 make a better experience

These speakers no longer improve the sound quality of the sound system, the sound system itself has modes that can emulate surround sound.

They do not extend the sounbar 550 by two more channels.
