It died on me relatively new Kindle Voyage day to day shortly after warranty, don't start, it's not the battery. An old Kindle with a keyboard also walls unexpectedly. So I bought a Kobo and so far after a year everything ok. Hopefully it'll last and not go away like those whoremongers from Amazon.

I bought the reader as a replacement for my Kindle. The design of the reader is excellent, good to hold, fast page turning, very good contrast (although some older readers were better), backlighting impeccable. The original cover acts as a stand and takes care of waking and putting to sleep. After the first power-up it is advisable to connect to wifi and update the firmware, after which the Czech language will be available. Transferring a library from Kindle can be done with Calibre including collections (for Kindle Collections, in Calibre Tags, in Kobo Collections, unfortunately Kindle must be sw. unlocked otherwise Calibre Collections will not read it). Kobo's collaboration with Calibre is handy, books can be sorted into collections using tags. New fonts can be uploaded to the fonts folder in main memory (I recommend Lexend Deca/Readex Pro). You can upload your own screensavers to the Screensaver folder. You can also connect a Bluetooth device for page turning. As an alternative viewer, I installed KOREADER, which allows you to view books in a common directory structure on disk, has a page-turn timer, and many other features. (can use its own library separate from the built-in browser, allows to set the home directory to one starting with a dot that the built-in browser ignores). I don't consider the inability to listen to my own audiobooks a minus, I never expected this from a reader. Overall I'm very happy, it was all about leaving the closed Kindle, which it did, now I have an inch bigger screen, faster response, ability to read in black background/white letter mode.
