I've been using Fenix lights for years and this is exactly what I've always wanted from them – a dipped and main beam with wireless control. No more compromising by trying to adjust the light so you can sort of see into the distance but without blinding anyone in front of you. No sharp cut-off cone that ultimately forces you to aim the light too high just to see reflective elements far away. 50lm is ideal for riding in the city; I have astigmatism and it's no problem for me to face it. The 200lm main beam is then sufficient for me almost everywhere on the flat up to a speed of about 30km/h. On unlit, straight paths, I usually ride with the lowest combination of 200+50lm, and when I meet someone, I switch off the main beam. Unfortunately, the light once again has a flashing mode, which Fenix just can't seem to give up. It's unusable and disorienting in the dark. However, it's activated by double-pressing the boost button, so unlike their other models, you can switch very quickly between lighting modes without accidentally turning on the flash. You can switch off the main or dipped beam separately by holding down the respective button for about 1 second. A short press turns it back on. The controls are really very responsive and have proven useful both when encountering others and when the terrain or road conditions change. After two night rides, I got completely used to it; I do everything automatically without thinking about what I need to press. Unfortunately, the display is very small and hard to read while riding, especially in the dark when it's a problem to look away from the road for any length of time. The battery and individual light mode indicators are particularly tiny; the large number is the total lumens, which I probably never need to know. According to the graph in the manual, the light has a very aggressive power drop-off. So while the maximum output is technically available, I think it's pretty pointless. I would prefer lower outputs that remain at a constant level. Despite these drawbacks, the light is amazing and suitable for a wide range of uses.
Easy to replace and, most importantly, easy to order batteries
Can be charged via the torch
Quality of workmanship
Convenient remote control
One of the best handlebar mounts
Suitable for use on the road and off-road, regardless of speed.
Nonsensical flashing mode (a Fenix speciality)
Small display, hard to read while driving
I would probably appreciate larger buttons on the controller in the winter.
Quite aggressive performance throttling
