I use them as standard PC crates, they are especially nice considering the price I bought them for (just under 2400 CZK). But one star goes down for the comparison with the newer R1700BTS, which, while a few hundred more expensive without actions, offer nice-to-haves on top of that. Given the current difference in the base prices of the two models (some 300-400 CZK? ) I would go for the BTS variant.
The sound is fine, definitely more than adequate for the price.
The sound can be fine-tuned to taste with two knobs controlling the bass and treble levels. Personally I prefer to add height, but of course it depends on the taste of each comrade.
There is more than enough bass in my opinion, and I don't think most people will need an extra subwoofer.
The construction is robust and looks very solid, and the brown version looks good too.
Switching between "wired" and BT mode is simple and quick, by pressing the volume button (or BT mode). and the included remote control. ) There is no audio response when a BT device is connected, which is fine with me, but for some it may be a minus. I don't rate the quality of the connection because I use it exclusively with a cable.
The driver is included in the package.
The power cable is connected permanently, so of course e.g. it is not trivial to replace a damaged one, to replace it with a longer/shorter one.
The BT connection only supports basic SBC without more advanced codecs, which is standard at this price point. On the other hand, the R1700BTS is capable of aptX HD.
Unlike the R1700BTS, the subwoofer output is missing. For me, most people won't require it anyway, but some might miss it.
The cable connecting the right and left boxes is 5 meters long! Someone somewhere could use it. But in the case of simple use as desktop PC cases, it's more of a nuisance.
The included controller is pretty flimsy to look at, I'll probably be able to squash it in a couple of weeks.

The speakers after about one day of playing surprised with excellent sound (Bluetooth, Youtube, MP3, FLAC), pink clink on the level, bass is not missing (normally set below half of the possible, so even hard overbassing is feasible). You could say that this relatively cheap thing is peeking into the world of HI-FI. The speaker covers are removable, they are nicer without them. The controller is tiny and looks cheap, but it works (+, -, on/off, mute). The control wheels on the side are fine. When you listen to them, you will recognize the quality of the source, when you play something of quality, the great ZVUUUK will force you to renew your old collection of poor quality MP3s.
