Installing RAM and disk is easy, lots of fast USB ports including 2x USB-C, nice design, in normal operation you can only hear the NUC if you put your ear to it and yet it is very snappy. But now for the networking - Debian doesn't support it yet because of the old kernel, I needed to install Ubuntu Server, but then there was a problem with packet loss (over 20%! ). The problem was solved by downloading the drivers from Realtek's website (realtek r8125) and running the included script, which installed the drivers and disabled the problematic, automatically selected distribution driver.

not exactly a downside, but too new network card and with that was a problem on Linux (Asus support claims that Linux is not supported at all). It was finally solved by kernel 6.14 (Ubuntu 25.04)

It would be, in my opinion, an absolutely ideal machine for a Linux-based multimedia center. In my case, the analogue output on the front is just a bit inconvenient - but those who would use audio via HDMI in such a case may not care.
Great functionality in Ubuntu (>=24.04) - everything works fine, right from installation; I was originally going to write "great functionality in Linux", but someone in another review mentions a problem in Debian 12; in my opinion in distros with newer kernel (>=6.8) should not really be a problem, compatibility with Linux is declared by ASUS itself

Adjustable front LED in the bios - you can select the color, brightness level (including complete switching off), as well as the type of light (e.g. steady vs pulsating light) in certain modes - it may be stupid, but it's really useful, e.g. when you don't want a sleepy computer lighting up your bedroom at night
The analogue audio output on the front is practical with headphones (when used as a personal computer), but in the case of a multimedia centre, where the sound goes to a speaker system, for example, it is no longer practical
