The QNAP TVS-h874-i5-32G serves to store, back up, and centralise data management in both home and business environments. The tower device accommodates up to eight hard drives or SSDs and includes interfaces for high-speed network connectivity. This network-attached storage system uses a six-core Intel Core i5 processor with a frequency of 4.4GHz to rapidly process requests from many users simultaneously. It's also suitable for running virtualisation, backing up to the cloud, or as a central storage hub for recordings from up to eight connected IP cameras.

Six-core Intel processor
At the core of the device is a six-core Intel Core i5 processor with an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 730 card. The system is complemented by 32768MB of DDR4 RAM, which can be expanded up to 131072MB. This hardware configuration processes system operations with no drop in speed. The device also supports real-time hardware video encoding.
Data transfers
Connectivity is provided by two 2.5Gb/s network ports for transferring files on the local network. There are also two free PCIe slots for installing expansion cards. These slots can be fitted with 5Gb/s or 10Gb/s network cards. The network interface supports features like Wake-on-LAN and Jumbo Frames.
Expandability and M.2 SSD support
Storage space is expanded by two built-in M.2 PCIe Gen 4 slots, which are used for installing NVMe drives. These bays support both SSD cache configuration and automatic data tiering. The cache memory shortens response times when accessing data. The system thus optimises operations without needing to occupy the main SATA drive bays.
Backup options
The operating system includes tools to protect data from loss or corruption. Users can create system snapshots that capture the state of data at a specific point in time. Backups can be performed to external storage, cloud services, and remote servers. Apple Time Machine support is available for saving data from macOS systems.
Running virtual machines and containers
The processor and RAM capacity allow for running virtual machines directly on the storage device. The device supports GPU pass-through technology to allocate graphics performance to a specific virtual system. This lets users run different operating systems on a single piece of physical hardware. The system can handle up to 3500 concurrent connections via the CIFS protocol.
Storage management
The NAS allows you to fit hard drives or SSDs with a SATA interface into its eight drive bays. Users can configure the drives in RAID arrays to increase security or write speeds. Management is handled via the QTS operating system's web interface. The NAS offers USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports for connecting external drives with transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s.
