Office Armchairs

Task office chairs allow a rocking motion, but otherwise their adjustability is limited. The seatpan, lumbar support, and armrests are firmly attached, so they cannot be sat in for more than a couple hours at a time. Their biggest advantage is affordability.

What to focus on when buying an office chair

Mechanism type

Most office chairs are equipped with the so-called rocking mechanism, which is a simple mechanism that allows you to adjust the chair’s tilt and tilt tension.

  • If you plan to sit still for more than a few hours a week, we recommend you check out office chairs with a synchronous or asynchronous mechanism.

Ergonomics and accessories

  • The headrest is an important accessory for people who suffer from neck pains, as it provides support for both the head and neck. It is also an ergonomic solution designed to prevent neck muscle strain.
  • Armrests are a must for any office chair or armchair, especially if you sit for hours at a time. Some armrest are adjustable for extra comfort.

Base material

The base is the key component of an office chair. A standard plastic base is both the cheapest and most common. For heavier people or frequent use, we recommend choosing a more durable material - chrome, aluminium, or some other metal.

If you want your office chair to work as it should and prevent excessive wear and tear,
pay close attention to the maximum weight capacity as specified by the manufacturer.

Upholstery fabric

Upholstery is commonly available in three types - leather, mesh, and fabric. A leather chair tends to make the best impression, but it is not particularly comfortable, especially in hot summer months. Mesh chairs have great ventilation, so if heat is your concern, this is the way to go. Fabric upholstery is a compromise, as it doesn’t suffocate you, but also provides some warmth.
