HTC

The Taiwanese brand HTC (High Tech Computer Corporation) is currently one of the best-known manufacturers of computers and electronics, despite the company's relatively short history. The HTC story began in 1997, when Fred Liu, Peter Chou and Cher Wang founded the company. Although only a few people knew the brand in the early years, many people used HTC products worldwide, in most cases without even knowing it.

HTC and other manufacturers

HTC had some initial problems. The company experienced financial difficulties just one year after its founding and relied on a cash injection from Cher Wang. This money was spent mainly on technology development and design, which turned out to be a wise investment. During this time, HTC ceased production of smartphones under its own brand and focused on manufacturing for major international companies (Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Sharp, etc.) and world-leading operators. Between 2002 (when the first Windows Mobile phone hit the market) and 2006, HTC also sold its products under the brands i-mate or Qtec.

The HTC brand gains popularity

In 2006, HTC changed its business policy and began once again to sell products under its own brand. This resulted in HTC releasing highly popular touchscreen smartphones, such as the Touch 3G, Viva or Cruise, which were also equipped with the TouchFLO user interface. Until the year 2008, HTC produced phones exclusively with the Windows Mobile operating system, but then swapped to Google Android.

HTC today

Today HTC is a global company with approx. 5,500 employees, making it one of the smallest of the world's top computers and electronics brands.
